Tourist Information -
Charlottetown
Charlottetown is Canada's Birthplace. It is also
the largest city and capital of Prince Edward Island, Canada. Charlottetown
is also Canada's smallest provincial capital. Historically the city
was the site of the 1864 Charlottetown Conference. This meeting
set the foundation for the union of the British North American colonies
into the Dominion of Canada. This union is known as "Confederation"
to Canadians. The Canadian Parliament has therefore designated Charlottetown
as the "Birthplace of Confederation".For more information
