Winnipeg
Winnipeg is the capital and largest city of the
province of Manitoba, Canada. Winnipeg is located in the province's
south-eastern corner, where the rugged Canadian Shield gives way
to open prairie, at the confluence of the Red and Assiniboine rivers.
Because of its strategic location, the city is often called "The
Gateway to the West."
Winnipeg has many distinct neighbourhoods. Many have special BIZ
offices that can provide you with details about their district,
well worth a visit if you are new to the area. Over 40 ethnic cultures
thrive in Winnipeg. Each has its own unique geographical area, some
very large, like the French Quarter, and others only a few streets
or blocks in size.
