Madeira Islands is an archipelago in the Atlantic Ocean, located
about 1100 km southwest of Portugal and is an autonomous territory
of that country. The capital and largest city is Funchal and is
located on Madeira Island.

The city is located on the southern shore of Madeira, the region's
largest island, on Funchal Bay. The city is a noted winter resort
because of its beaches and mild climate.

All motor vehicles drive on the right and overtake
on the left. Unless shown otherwise, vehicles approaching from the
right have priority at junctions. Seatbelts are obligatory. Drinking
and driving is frowned upon and the law regarding this offence is
very strict. The maximum speed in towns is 50Km p/h, on main roads
90 Km p/h and highways 120Km p/h. Local petrol (Gas) stations are
open from 7a.m.to 8p.m. On highways, service stations are always
open.
