Turkey
Turkey is officially the Republic of Turkey (Turkish Türkiye
Cumhuriyeti) sitting between south-eastern Europe and south-western
Asia. Bordered on the northwest by Bulgaria and Greece, on the north
by the Black Sea, on the northeast by Georgia and Armenia, on the
east by Iran and the Azerbaijani exclave of Naxçivan, on
the south by Iraq, Syria and the Mediterranean Sea and on the west
by the Aegean Sea. Istanbul is the largest city in Turkey, and Ankara
is the capital. Other important cities are Izmir, Adana, and Bursa.

SPECIAL NOTES
Drive on the right, overtake on the left.
Use the flashing of headlights as a warning.
Dipped headlights should be used in built-up areas after sunset.
All accidents must be reported to the police.
Use of the horn is restricted to emergencies only.
Vehicles on a main road have priority over those joining from a
side road.

VEHICLE REQUIREMENTS
2 warning triangles, a first aid kit, a fire extinguisher, a tow
rope and a tool kit are all required.
SPEED LIMITS
Cars only
Built-up areas = 50 kph
Major roads outside towns = 90 kph
Motorways = 120 kph
MOTORWAYS
Tolls are charged on some motorways.
SEAT BELTS
Seat belts are compulsory for front- and rear-seat passengers.
DRIVING LICENCE
EC licence accepted for visitors of up to 3 months.
Minimum driving age 18.
FINES
Motoring offences attract an on the spot fine. Police are empowered
to collect fines on the spot.
DRINKING and DRIVING
Blood / Alcohol limit is 0.05%.

PARKING
Park Yapilmaz translates to No Parking. Do not park within 25 meters
of danger signs. Outside built-up areas side lights should be used.
In built-up areas side lights should be used if the vehicle is not
visible from 150 metres or less.

Unleaded Super 95 = Kursunsuz Benzin
Diesel = mazot
LPG is available BUT HARD TO FIND.
Credit cards are generally accepted.
