Baltimore qualifies as a prime destination for visitors, with its waterfront location, outstanding transportation network and close proximity to New York, Philadelphia and Washington DC.

Airports

Three major airports service Baltimore: Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI) in Maryland, and Washington Dulles International Airport and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in Northern Virginia.

BWI is located 10 miles south of the city and is the primary airport for travelers to Baltimore. Nineteen carriers offer 692 flights in and out of the airport daily. BWI has several facilities for long-term and daily parking and complimentary shuttle service to satellite parking areas. Airport transfers to Baltimore or Washington, D. C. are available via shuttle bus, taxi, Light Rail, Amtrak train or limousine service. Washington Dulles International Airport is 61 miles from Baltimore and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport is 42 miles from Baltimore.

Special services for groups at BWI include two hospitality counters with staff to meet and assist visitors, stands for welcome signs at the main escalators and small meeting space, business center and banquet facilities.

Trains & Public Transportation

Trains arrive and depart from Penn Station, located at 1500 N. Charles Street in downtown Baltimore. Penn Station offers enclosed waiting areas, paid short-term and long-term parking, a restaurant, snack bar, taxi and transit service.

Amtrak trains run 24 hours a day, seven days a week, connecting Baltimore to cities along the Northeast Corridor. Amtrak also runs to BWI. For fares and schedules, call 1-800-872-7245

The Mass Transit Administration (MTA) operates bus, Metro, Light Rail and MARC train services. The local bus system, which operates seven days a week, covers the downtown neighborhoods and parts of Baltimore's suburbs. The Metro system operates 7 days a week and runs from Owings Mills in Baltimore County to John's Hopkins Hospital, located downtown. The Light Rail system also operates seven days a week and runs from Hunt Valley in Baltimore County to the Cromwell Station in Anne Arundel County and also runs from Penn Station to BWI. The newest form of public transportation downtown is the Downtown Area Shuttle (DASH). Shuttle service is provided seven days a week and is a quick and convenient way to get to and from any major downtown attraction or business site. For fares and schedules, call 410-244-1030.

Water Transportation

An enjoyable way to travel around Baltimore's Inner Harbor as well as Little Italy, Fell's Point, Canton and Fort McHenry is by water shuttle. This method of transportation is perfect for visitors and locals who want to really cruise the city. Call ahead for seasonal schedules or group tours.
